PROVENCE LAVENDER POUCHES
While visiting the French countryside, we’d drive with the windows down, letting the gentle scent of fresh lavender flood into the tiny space of our yellow rental car. Provence is home rows and rows of beautiful lavender fields, and the smell of the summer air is something you’d want to contain and savor in a small vile. These hand-sewn lavender pouches are simply just that— a small pocket of French summer air packaging carefully in Provencal fabric and tied off with chiffon.
These pouches are extra special, because both the lavender and the fabric were picked up by yours truly, on our latest trip to France. We visited a 900-year-old French market in Apt, where we found treasures of all kinds, and after wandering through the maze of stalls and stands, we came across a tent draped head to toe with the most colorful fabrics and patterns. I picked out my favorite of the bunch, and made a mental note to myself that I would make little lavender pouches for our shop when we returned back home. Knowing that, as we kept strolling, I searched the market for fresh lavender, which wasn’t hard to find at all.
