TUSCANY: STORYBOOK EDITION (ON ITALIAN PAPER)
Anytime we’re outside, hiking along trails and running through fields, I can’t help but feel as if I’m living a fantastical moment in an old storybook. Between the jagged mountains of the Dolomites, and soft rolling hills of Tuscany, Italy offered countless extraordinary sights for my imagination to wander. This two-part “Storybook Edition” series illustrates the Italian countryside like how I’d desire to see it in a children’s picture book.
This piece showcases Tuscany just like how it is in real life– golden, charming, and fertile. Nearly every plot of land hosted life of some kind, whether it be little white sheep or green olive trees. The repetition of perfect, horizontal rows, shooting up and over hills and valleys, all the way beyond the horizon, made me feel like Tuscany was wearing a very funky patchwork jacket. Haystacks started to look like embroidery knots, while cypress trees started to look like tassels. With every breeze, Tuscany almost looked like it was showing off its many embellishments. Make room for some charm in your living space, and allow this piece to remind you to live a little. Toss on your favorite clothes, and go see what Mother Nature’s wearing.
