GREETINGS!

We’re Chad and Claire, a married creative duo based in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. We are traveling to 50 countries around the world, in search of good food, outdoor adventures, and cultural experiences. We hope to spread joy and encouragement as we document our world travels together.

THE MEANING BEHIND THE LOGO–

After much research and brainstorming for a less obvious and cliche visual representation of global travel, a local graphic designer chose to base our brand mark on the extraordinary, wandering arctic tern. Here are some cool and relevant facts about this special bird:

  • The arctic tern’s migration is the longest of any animal on Earth (per year).

  • Arctic terns mate for life.

  • Arctic terns migrate in search of summer sunlight.

  • Arctic terns can bounce around every continent instead of flying in a straight line back home.

  • Scientists have learned that arctic terns fly thousands of miles out of their way to take advantage of the best weather and get the best food.

We love how perfectly the arctic tern matches with us as individuals, but also our passion to travel the world for good food and the great outdoors. Their desire to migrate the globe for summer sunlight reminds us much of how we always try to gravitate towards hope and see the magic of everyday life. Just like the saying, “the sun will always come out tomorrow,” we believe that when life gets hard, the best thing to do is to look for that golden sunlight, and carry on.

WE ARE MAKERS

Before we became travelers, we were (and are) artists. We both attended art university, and having the platform to share our creativity is one of the main reasons as to why we do what we do. Whether it be documenting our travels in the form of photography and videography, or crafting one-of-a-kind art pieces, we find a golden happy spot in making things for others to enjoy. Claire releases special travel-inspired art collections throughout the year, cooking up wild ideas from the many places we visit. You never know what she’ll come out with next (and neither does she), so keep a close eye on her little art shop to see what pieces come out of her studio!

WE ARE TRAVELERS

Between the many differences we have in personality and interests, the one topic that will never fail to spark excitement for us is travel. This strong desire to see and experience all that the world has to offer, has always been something in which we both wanted to work towards incorporating into our daily lives. Although we don’t have much money, we found a way to travel full-time, and it all started out in a very small van that typically isn’t meant to house two.

Somehow, we managed to squeeze two small adults into a self-converted Ford Transit Connect for a fun, but challenging, U.S.A. road trip. After touring our home country from our little home on wheels for a whole entire year, we set out on another big adventure— international travel with nothing more than two carry-on suitcases! We currently have plans to visit at least 50 countries around the world, no matter how long it takes to complete that wild goal. Wish us luck as we attempt to make world travel a possibility as two creatives!

THINGS WE REALIZED ONCE WE BEGAN TRAVELING THE WORLD—

SEE THE MAGIC

Cherishing the little things and seeing the magic in everything is the key to extending that child-like wonder and fascination into adulthood. Moments of magic, adventure, and excitement can be found in a simple everyday life– it doesn’t take traveling the world to find it! Sometimes it is those minuscule, mundane moments that reminds us both that life is truly grand and magnificent.

LIVE NOW

There is no greater moment to live out your dreams than the present. We came to the realization that we have no clue when our lives will come to an end. Turns out, tomorrow isn’t always guaranteed! We’ve heard the phrase “I wish I had…” over and over again from a number of people older than us, and we’re hoping that one day when we’re older, that phrase won’t be running through our minds.

BE WITH HOPE

As people who struggle with mental health, we’ve learned that even when times are difficult and challenging, a little dose of positivity and optimism will always bring a smile at the end of the day. Every day isn’t going to be easy, and that’s okay! We can’t enjoy the good and happy days with such joy if we didn’t have the tough days as well. We strive to tackle life with a small vial of hope in our back pockets.
